WebDenosumab (Prolia®) is product that is available as an injection given every six months to women and men. It is often used when other treatments have failed. Denosumab can be used even in some cases of reduced kidney function. Its long-term effects are not yet known, but there are potentially serious side effects. WebAbstract. Objective: Denosumab is a new potent antiresorptive treatment of osteoporosis that can potentially induce a compensatory increase in parathyroid hormone (PTH) levels. We aimed to evaluate the alteration of PTH 1 and 6 months after denosumab's administration with different regimens of calcium and vitamin D (Ca/D) supplementation.
